Traveller’s Reviews of Chiang Mai Thai Cookery School

Even he who rarely cooks at home enjoyed the day.

Rating: 9.5 of 10 ★★★★★★★★★½

Despite my husband’s reluctance to attend a whole day of “cut and dice”, as he put it, he loved every minute of it. Starting with an educational visit to the vast local market is a great introduction to the country’s incredible variety of ingredients and prepared foods, the likes of which we don’t see in most North American grocery stores. Being given a cookbook is a bonus and an incentive to try recipes at home other than the ones prepared in Chiang Mai.  Chiang Mai Thai Cookery School was a highlight of our six weeks in S-E Asia.

An inspiring day for cooks and newbie cooks.

A friend of mine and I took a day long class at Chiang Mai Thai Cookery School. It was great! They managed to move us along quickly enough so that we could make 6 courses. Warning: You don’t have to eat everything you make! We were so full, we need a wheelchair to roll us out of there. Seriously, these folks were really on top of it. Very professional. I’ve taken other cooking class but the format of this one is the best kind; Each student has the opportunity to make each course so we learn about every dish. The morning at the market was really special; we were there with locals buying produce.

The best day.

I have spent a large part of my life in the travel industry and know a good tour/day out when I see it.  The cooking class was beyond great, the staff where friendly and knowledgeable, the facilities where more than adequate. In short if you are looking for a fun thing to do and enjoy cooking and eating (and who doesn’t) then this is a must.
