Traveller’s Reviews of Amazing Bike Tours

Thailand the way it used to be.  Koh Yao Yoi day trip AA+

Rating: 9.5 out of 10 ★★★★★★★★★½

What a great day we had on our Day trip to Koh Yao Noi! Loh is an excellent guide, great english and full of information.
Pros:

  • Very well orgainsed. No extra charge to pick us up from our hotel like other excursions can sometimes add on.
  • Long-boat trip with the locals to/from the island – an hour each way, beautiful vistas of Phang Nga Bay and the islands. My tip is to sit outside if rough as they close the inside up with canvas flaps….claustrophobic!
  • wide range of local sights to enable a glimpse of the simple way of life in a traditional village
  • excellent views from the mountain after the hill climb
  • amazing food for lunch from Simba beachside restaurant – the best thai food on our entire trip!
  • plentiful water + sweet rice snacks
  • great excercise

Cons:

  • one of the groups bike was broken and unable to be ridden – only discovered once we had taken the boat trip to the island without support. Loh did a great job sourcing a local bike however this delayed our trip a wee bit and meant we had a short 45min lunch stop and just made it back to the ferry on time.
  • Re-useable bike water bottles are provided – we didn’t really like to use these and opted to drink directly from the lovely cold bottles Loh purchased from the local shops.

If you are debating going on this trip definitely take the leap – an excellent day. We look forward to doing another!

Totally awesome & fun tour.  We had a blast!!!

Rating: 10 out of 10 ★★★★★★★★★★

This was my hubby’s (Mike) and my very first bike tour round the beautiful Koh Yao Noi. Well, honestly speaking, I have never been mountain biking all my entire life. So it was quiet a challenge for the both of us. BUT we had a BLAST. This would definitely be something to shout about in my facebook page.

Never thought that I would survive the entire 27km tour (phew!! never done so much cycling in my whole entire 41 years of my life..LOL). The boat ride to the Koh Yao Noi was something different as we shared the ride with the locals.

We absolutely enjoyed the paths that we took. Right from the jetty, we travelled through the rubber plantation (I must say that it was pretty tough at first for me – occasionally running into rubber trees here and there coz for the past 41 years of my life, the only path that I have ever cycled on in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia are straight smooth roads. Hey!! What do you expect from a city gal like me – LOL) but I survived the first part of the ride)

We then passed through little towns, experienced the local folks lifestyle on the Little Koh Yao Island (FYI- “Noi” in Thai means “Small”), where once again for the first time in my life I actually saw cashew trees (no wonder they are pretty expensive) :).

We then cycled through the paddy fields which was easy peazy as there were no rubber trees for me to run into except for a few 3 or 4 calves here and there and an absolutely handsome water buffalo (Phew…thank god I did not cycle into that big fella). The scenery was beautiful. Entire paddy field with the mountains as its background was very picturesque.

We stopped by the look out point where the view on top was breath taking (we did not make it all the way…only 3/4 mark hee.heee.- but Lok and David went all the way). We could see the little islands and Krabi itself…Bee-Uuu-Tee-Full!!! Continued our journey and stopped for LUNCH at this small little place called Sabai Restaurant (or something like that). Oooh the food was simply YUMMY!!! And finally off to the jetty we go…which once again we went through the rubber estate terrain but this time, I ran into lesser rubber trees…so I can now consider myself a pro!!

Just before we headed home to the hotel, we were served with chilled refreshing coconut water….AHHH!!! and mingled with the furry long tailed locals (Yup!!! the MONKEYS!!).

All in all, we had the most memorable and eventful time and will definitely do it again then next time we are in Phuket.

So for those who would like a little adventure…I would definitely recommend this tour. It’s FUN, EXCITING and for those who are thinking of shedding off some kilos that you have put on while in Phuket, this would definitely be the tour for you…I actually calculated the amount of calories burnt throughout this tour…it is approximately 1700 calories….how AWESOME is that. You eat and eat and eat then burn them while you are on a holiday.

So thank you Amazing Bike Tour for the most memorable experience. Hope to see all of you again. This time, we are gonna that the longer bike route…27 km is , what we Malaysians call “kacang putih” (which means “peanuts”) for us now.

Lok, thank you for all the encouragement you gave me. I would not have made it in one piece without your guide, jokes and encouragement.

David, you ROCK…Every time I start cycling up hill I will think of you. If you can do it, so can I
