Damnoen Saduak Floating Markets – Bangkok

Perhaps the most popular market near Bangkok is Damnoen Saduak Floating Market located in the Ratchaburi province 110 kilometres southwest of Bangkok. This famous market is named after a canal that was specially dug out to connect the Tacheen River with the Mea Klong River.

Daily from about 6 a.m. to about 11 a.m. the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is normally crowded with hundreds of vendors and purchasers floating in their small rowing boats selling, buying or exchanging their produce. Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is not a place for shopping like Chatuchak Weekend Market but it is a place where you can see the unique market and traditional lifestyle of Thais along the canal.

You will need to get an early start if traveling from Bangkok as the market closes around midday. Sometimes the road trip to this particular tourist attraction can take around two hours due to the heavy traffic and constant construction along the route.
